In a world of monsters that attack at night, Paul and his two sons, Thomas and Joseph, live on a remote farm. Together they go about their daily chores, trying to scavenge for food, but at night they hole up in the house and try to survive against the horrible creatures that attack in the dark.

However, Thomas likes to visit the neighbouring farm, where he also helps with the chores. One day, Tom doesn't return in time from the neighbouring farm, so Paul sets out to rescue him. After an unfortunate encounter with the monsters, the father is left badly injured and the two sons must use their wits and skills to pull through another night. But neither of them wants to be afraid anymore and takes the fight to the sinister monsters.

The film stars Oscar-winning and well-known actor Nicolas Cage in the lead roles, and he is joined by rising star Jaeden Martell, the actor of IT, IT 2, Knives Out and Saint Vincent.
